Compression Stockings & Medicare Never Event.

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently announced a decision not to cover a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and/or pulmonary embolism (PE) that results from hip or knee replacement surgery.

Medicare “never event" started in fall 2008 with a new policy that is directed for issues that crop up during a hospital stay. When the new policy took effect, Medicare will no longer pay listed “never event” if they result from a patient’s hospitalization.
